Camp Verde Man Sentenced to 46 Months for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

A Camp Verde man has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a violent assault that left a victim seriously injured. Emilio Chato Haddo, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in February 2017.

According to authorities, Haddo and his co-defendant, a member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, assaulted the victim, also a member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, on December 10, 2015. The victim suffered serious bodily injury after being struck on the head with the butt of a handgun, causing it to discharge.

The investigation into the assault was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Yavapai-Apache Nation Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina Covault.

On April 19, 2017, U.S. District Judge Paul G. Rosenblatt sentenced Haddo to 46 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Haddo’s co-defendant was killed in a single car accident in February 2017.
