Aurora Man Sentenced for Illegally Reentering US After 6 Deportations

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – In a shocking case of disregard for immigration laws, Emilio Jimenez-Daniel, 34, of Aurora, Colorado, was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after being deported six times.

At his guilty plea on November 16, 2021, Jimenez-Daniel admitted to having previously been deported from the United States and illegally reentered the country without the permission of the United States government. The defendant was deported in September 2003, October 2003, September 2004, May 2011, January 2013, and June 2018.

Jimenez-Daniel’s lengthy history of immigration offenses isn’t the only blemish on his record. He was convicted in the Iowa District Court for Johnson County of Operating While Intoxicated, second offense, a felony, in February 2021. He was also convicted of Driving Under the Influence in Kansas and Driving Under the Influence in Colorado for offenses occurring in July and September 2009.

United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams handed down the 10-month prison sentence in Cedar Rapids. Jimenez-Daniel will also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Jimenez-Daniel is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel C. Tvedt and investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
