Massachusetts Man Convicted of Cocaine Trafficking
BOSTON, MA – In a major blow to cocaine traffickers in the Bay State, Emmanuelli Rojas-Moraza, 40, of Clinton, Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
According to the evidence presented in court, Rojas-Moraza was arrested in January 2020 after agents seized approximately one kilogram of cocaine inside a package sent from Puerto Rico and addressed to his residence in Clinton. During a search of his residence following his arrest, agents recovered drug packaging tools and materials.
Rojas-Moraza was indicted in March 2020 and has a prior drug conviction, making the charge of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams of cocaine punishable by up to 40 years in prison, four years of supervised release, and a fine of $5 million. He also faces a charge of use of a communications facility in connection with a narcotics offense, which carries a sentence of up to eight years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Clinton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Mulcahy of Mendell’s Worcester Branch Office is prosecuting the case.
Rojas-Moraza is scheduled to be sentenced on September 14, 2021, in U.S. District Court. The exact sentence will be determined by Judge Timothy S. Hillman based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
