Bayou La Batre Man Sentenced to Over 23 Years for Armed Robberies

Bayou La Batre, Alabama – In a brazen display of violence, En Chim and an accomplice robbed two local businesses, leaving a trail of fear in their wake.

On May 13, 2021, En Chim was sentenced to 115 months in federal prison for his role in the robberies, which took place on November 2018. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Terry F. Moorer.

Chim was found guilty of all five counts of a federal indictment, including two counts of robbery and three counts of using a firearm to commit the crimes. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his release from prison and pay $1,100 in restitution.

The robberies, which occurred at a convenience store and a sandwich shop, showed a blatant disregard for human life and safety. Witnesses and video evidence showed that Chim and his accomplice entered both businesses, demanding money and waving handguns at the attendants.

Chim’s accomplice is still at large and is being sought by authorities.
