Mobile Man Sentenced to 60 Months for Gun and Marijuana Charges
A 25-year-old man from Mobile, Alabama has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for using a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Eric A. Banks, a resident of Mobile, was found with a loaded 9mm Glock pistol and approximately 443 grams of marijuana packaged in individual quantities for sale.
The crime was discovered on April 20, 2017, when law enforcement found Banks in a vehicle with the pistol and the marijuana. Banks subsequently pled guilty to the crime and was sentenced to 60 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Alabama Law Enforcement Association, and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Gina S. Vann was assigned to the case.
