
BECKLEY, W.Va. – A Beckley man has been charged with federal drug crime.
Eric Dale Mills, 45, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing fentanyl.
A traffic stop on July 26, 2021, led to the discovery of over 50 grams of fentanyl and a small amount of methamphetamine in Mills’ car. Law enforcement officers found small bags for packaging and scales during the search.
Mills admitted in court that he possessed the fentanyl and intended to distribute it.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia, Mills faces not less than five and up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 1, 2022.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department.
United States District Judge Frank W. Volk presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell is handling the prosecution.
