HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A notorious heroin trafficker has been brought to justice. Eric Greer, 39, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin conspiracy.
According to court documents, Greer pleaded guilty in October 2014 to participating in a conspiracy to transport heroin from Detroit for distribution in Gallipolis, Ohio, and Mason County, West Virginia. He admitted to participating in the conspiracy from the summer of 2011 to October 2012.
Chief United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence.
The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police and Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney John Frail handled the prosecution.
This case is being prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of heroin and prescription drugs.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal heroin and pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers in communities across the Southern District.
