Westminster Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Pornography
Baltimore, Maryland – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Eric Wayne Grinder, 36, of Westminster, Maryland, has been sentenced to a hefty 30 years in prison for his heinous crimes.
On February 25, 2019, a federal jury found Grinder guilty of five counts of production of child pornography, one count of attempted production of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography, and witness tampering.
U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake handed down the sentence, which includes a lifetime of supervised release, during a hearing on March 29, 2023.
According to the evidence presented during his three-day trial, Grinder committed the atrocities between June 2013 and August 2016, when he sexually abused a minor female between the ages of seven and nine. He produced explicit images of himself and the minor, which were stored on his laptop computer and cellular phone.
Furthermore, Grinder wrote a letter to a third party in July 2017, attempting to manipulate the victim into claiming that she took the explicit images, not him. He also repeatedly tried to contact and manipulate the victim’s mother.
United States Attorney Robert K. Hur commended the efforts of HSI, the Maryland State Police, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office for their dedication in bringing Grinder to justice.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
