Eugene Key, Possession of Narcotics and Firearms, Pennsylvania 2021

Pittsburgh felon Eugene Key, 27, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for violating federal narcotics and firearms laws.

According to the Superseding Indictment, Eugene Key was arrested on July 2, 2021, in possession of 100 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing detectable amounts of heroin, fentanyl, and a quantity of oxycodone. Key also possessed a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possessed a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.

Federal law prohibits an individual who has been convicted of a felony from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 10 years to a maximum of life in prison, a fine not to exceed $8,000,000, or both.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted a joint investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), the centerpiece of the federal government’s violent crime reduction efforts.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
