Evann Robinson, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2023

BECKLEY, W.Va. – A Detroit man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for distributing methamphetamine in southern West Virginia.

Evann Robinson, 40, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in the distribution of the highly addictive and dangerous substance.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on May 9, 2023, Robinson sold a controlled substance containing methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Beckley.

A short time later, on May 15, 2023, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a Beckley residence where Robinson was living and seized a significant amount of evidence, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and $9,350, including $40 in recorded buy money.

Robinson’s criminal history is extensive, with prior convictions for assault with intent to do great bodily harm, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and prisoner possessing weapons.

United States Attorney Will Thompson praised the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which consists of officers from the West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Beckley Police Department.

Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the sentence, and Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph prosecuted the case.
