ORLANDO, FL – A federal jury delivered a damning verdict today, finding Dariel Javier Quiles-Davila, 27, of Kissimmee, guilty of receiving child sexual abuse material. The former Kissimmee Police officer now faces a minimum of five years and potentially up to twenty years behind federal bars.
The evidence presented painted a disturbing picture of abuse of power. In October 2023, while on duty with the Kissimmee Police Department, Quiles-Davila encountered a child victim. He didn’t stop there. The jury heard how Quiles-Davila actively sought out the child’s contact information and initiated direct communication using his personal phone and social media accounts.
This wasn’t just innocent messaging. Prosecutors detailed how Quiles-Davila sent the child money, then escalated to soliciting and receiving sexually explicit photographs and videos. A clear abuse of trust and a betrayal of the oath he swore to uphold. The details of the material were not released to the press, but the jury clearly found the evidence damning enough to convict.
The investigation was a collaborative effort, spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with crucial support from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and, ironically, the Kissimmee Police Department itself. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Sartoian skillfully presented the case, securing the guilty verdict.
This case is part of a larger, nationwide effort known as Project Safe Childhood, launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. The initiative aims to combat the ever-growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse by pooling federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute predators, and to rescue victims. More information on Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
Quiles-Davila’s sentencing is currently scheduled for December 16, 2025. Until then, he remains in federal custody. This conviction serves as a stark reminder that those sworn to protect are not above the law, and that exploiting vulnerable children will be met with the full force of justice. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing.
