José Raul Falcon-Reyes, a 36-year-old Mexican national, has been handed a 12-month prison sentence for unlawfully reentering the United States. Falcon-Reyes pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry after deportation and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes.
Falcon-Reyes was previously convicted of improper entry by an alien in 2015 and was subsequently deported to Mexico that same year. However, he chose to disregard the law and returned to the United States just one month after his deportation. On February 15, 2025, he was arrested in Pettis County, Mo., and charged with unlawful reentry.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rudolph R. Rhodes IV, with Immigration & Customs Enforcement and Enforcement & Removal Operations conducting the investigation. The outcome of this case serves as a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working to combat illegal immigration and protect our communities.
The sentencing of Falcon-Reyes is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration and achieving the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). This operation streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) to protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
Operation Take Back America is a significant step forward in the fight against illegal immigration and the associated crimes that come with it. The operation’s focus on dismantling cartels and TCOs will help to reduce the flow of illicit goods and people into the United States, making our communities safer and more secure.
In handing down the 12-month sentence, U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes sent a clear message that unlawful reentry into the United States will not be tolerated. The sentence serves as a deterrent to those who would seek to disregard the law and enter the country illegally. As the Department of Justice continues to work tirelessly to combat illegal immigration, the sentencing of José Raul Falcon-Reyes is a significant victory in the ongoing battle to protect our nation’s borders and communities.
