Las Vegas, NV – A father and son duo have been indicted for armed robberies at two Henderson credit unions, according to U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden.
‘The alleged armed robberies placed bank employees and customers in severe danger,’ said U.S. Attorney Bogden. ‘We will work with law enforcement to ensure justice is served.’
Jeffrey Alan James, 51, and his son Jessy Stewart James, 22, are each charged with one-count of Hobbs Act Robbery and one-count of bank robbery. The trial has been scheduled for May 9, 2017.
Court documents reveal that on January 24, 2017, Jeffrey James, armed with a replica firearm, stole $4,000 from the Silver State Schools Credit Union. His son, Jessy, threatened the teller with a suitcase and demanded money. On February 16, 2017, Jessy James stole approximately $4,207 from the America First Credit Union using a similar modus operandi.
Jeffrey James acted as a getaway driver for his son in both robberies. The investigation is being conducted by the Henderson Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Burns.
An indictment contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
