A 33-year-old Lincoln man is headed to the slammer after being convicted of possessing ammunition as a felon.
Leonard G. Pfarr, 33, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced to 16 months in prison by Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard on May 9, 2024, in federal court in Lincoln.
The no-parole sentence will be followed by a three-year term of supervised release after Pfarr’s release from prison. Pfarr was arrested by Lincoln Police Department officers on active state arrest warrants.
A pat search incident to arrest revealed a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson round in Pfarr’s pocket. Markings on the ammunition indicated it was manufactured outside the United States and transported in interstate commerce to Nebraska.
This marks the third time Pfarr has been convicted of crimes punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Lincoln Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Pfarr’s past convictions and the nature of the recovered ammunition suggest a pattern of reckless behavior that put himself and others at risk.
As Pfarr begins his sentence, the Lincoln community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that at least one individual who poses a threat to public safety is being held accountable.
The federal investigation and subsequent conviction serve as a reminder that the consequences of breaking federal laws can be severe and long-lasting.
