Kobe Alexander Scott, a 26-year-old convicted felon and member of the Bloods street gang, was sentenced to over 9 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm. The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) began investigating Scott in October 2023 after receiving information that he was selling illegal narcotics and had access to firearms. The investigation led to a search at a Raleigh-area recording studio, where two 9-millimeter firearms were found inside Scott’s office desk drawer. Scott had been using social media to advertise and sell marijuana, often posting photos and videos of himself displaying firearms and large quantities of marijuana.
Scott’s history of crime dates back to 2015, when he was convicted of felony breaking and entering and larceny. In 2022, he was convicted of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. The RPD’s investigation was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime and make communities safe.
The sentence is a significant blow to Scott’s criminal activities, which had been threatening the safety of the Raleigh community. U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle praised the work of federal and local partners in stopping armed, drug-dealing felons like Scott.
Scott pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon on April 28, 2026. The case was coordinated by the U.S. Attorney’s office as part of Operation Take Back America, a commitment to making the country safe.
