Felon Sentenced for Gun Charge in Buffalo
Aaron Lucas, a 39-year-old man from Buffalo, was sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr.
Lucas, also known as B-Wise, was convicted of the charge after a search warrant was executed at his residence on Busti Avenue in Buffalo on October 25, 2015. During the search, officers recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
Lucas had previously been convicted of a felony in state court in 2003, making him prohibited from legally possessing a firearm.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict, New York Field Division.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan A. Tokash handled the case and stated that the evidence presented during the trial proved that Lucas was in possession of the firearm, despite being a convicted felon.
Lucas will serve his 48-month sentence at a federal prison, where he will have time to reflect on the seriousness of his crime.
