Larmondo Allen, Illegal Firearm Possession, Louisiana 2024

Two New Orleans men have been charged with illegally possessing firearms, putting them in the crosshairs of a federal indictment.

Larmondo Allen, also known as ‘Nino,’ and Wayne Banks, both residents of New Orleans, face a maximum term of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, three years supervised release, and a $100 special assessment fee if convicted of being felons in possession of firearms.

The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury, marks the latest development in a city where gun violence has become a pressing concern.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made reducing violent crime in America a top priority, and the reinvigoration of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) aims to bring together law enforcement agencies to make neighborhoods safer.

As part of this effort, the Louisiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation collaborated on the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Liz Privitera is prosecuting the matter.

PSN has a proven track record of reducing violent crime, and its revival is seen as a crucial step in addressing the nation’s crime trend.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat gun crimes in New Orleans and the broader region, as law enforcement agencies work to make communities safer for everyone.
