Felons, Dealers Indicted in St. Louis
A wave of federal indictments targeting violent felons and drug dealers has struck St. Louis, with 22 individuals facing serious charges.
At the forefront of the crackdown are those accused of gun crimes. Lavelle Bolden, 23, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm. This is just one of many cases where individuals with a history of crime have been caught with guns.
Another notable case is Melvin T. Cunigan, 62, who was indicted on one felony count of possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Cunigan faces the added consequence of federal prosecution, which carries a minimum sentence of 85% of the time served in prison, with no parole in sight. Sentences are served in prisons far from St. Louis, taking felons away from the community.
The list of indicted individuals includes Leroy Shipp, 50, who was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and felon in possession of a firearm. Shipp’s indictment serves as a reminder that those with a history of crime will face harsher penalties for further offenses.
Other notable cases include Tiara Johnson, 23, who was indicted for making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, and Norris Douglas, Jr., 26, who was indicted for possession with intent to distribute a quantity of fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

- Alexander Williams, 25, on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm.
- Kevin Carter, 60, on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm.
- Mark Hayes, 45, on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm.
- Josh Hudson, 28, on one felony count of felon in possession of a firearm.
