Warren Love, Cocaine Trafficking, New York 2024

Rochester, NY – Warren Love, a 36-year-old Rochester resident, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison and six years supervised release for his involvement in a cocaine trafficking ring and related firearms charges. Love was convicted by a jury of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, maintaining a drug involved premises, possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, and possession of firearms and ammunition while being a convicted felon.

The investigation into Love’s activities began when members of the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team executed two search warrants at 399 Lake Avenue on April 6, 2010. At the time of the search, Love was arrested at the threshold of the rear first floor apartment.

During the search of the rear first floor apartment, law enforcement officers found over 19 grams of crack cocaine that was in the process of being packaged for street-level sale. Additionally, officers located paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, including digital scales and glassine ziplock bags.

In the rear second floor apartment, officers discovered a sophisticated surveillance system that showed the area outside of 399 Lake Avenue through strategically mounted surveillance cameras. They also found paraphernalia related to drug trafficking, as well as a loaded 40-caliber rifle underneath a sofa. Perhaps most disturbingly, officers found Love’s four-year-old son playing in the living room, where they also located the loaded rifle.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation led by the Greater Rochester Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, composed of law enforcement personnel from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Rochester Police Department, and the Irondequoit Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Craig Gestring and Charles E. Moynihan handled the case. U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced the sentencing, and U.S. District Court Judge David G. Larimer imposed the 13-year sentence.

Love’s conviction and sentencing serve as a reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in illicit activities and the importance of continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and firearms violence in our communities.
