BOSTON – Former Quincy drug kingpin Samuel Jean-Baptiste, also known as ‘Jett Black,’ 39, has pleaded guilty in federal court to distributing a massive amount of methamphetamine. The charges carry life sentences and millions in fines.
Jean-Baptiste was arrested in May 2024 after a sting operation involving over 680 grams of fentanyl. He is now facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years for the distribution of nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine, with a possible life sentence and up to $10 million fine.
According to U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young, sentencing has been scheduled for Nov. 24, 2025. Jean-Baptiste’s arrest followed months of investigation by the FBI, which identified him as a significant distributor in the Boston area.
The investigation began in July 2023 when a confidential source made multiple controlled purchases from Jean-Baptiste. The sting operation culminated in his May 29, 2024, arrest at a location set up for the sale of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and FBI Special Agent in Charge Ted E. Docks announced the charges against Jean-Baptiste as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Sullivan is handling the prosecution. For more information on the OCDETF Program, visit https://www.justice.gov/ocdetf.
