A King County couple’s alleged reign of fentanyl and firearms has finally been brought to justice. Braiden F. Wilson, 28, and his 30-year-old partner Chandler B. Bennett are facing serious charges after a May 12, 2024, shooting in rural King County.
According to the indictment, law enforcement discovered a massive cache of fentanyl, firearms, and explosives inside the couple’s RV. The shocking find included over two and a half kilograms of fentanyl pills, 17 firearms, body armor, silencers, and ballistic shields. The pair also had literature on the chemistry and manufacturing of explosives, and guides on converting firearms to fully automatic capability.
The indictment charges Wilson with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, punishable by a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life. Bennett is charged with unlawful possession of a machinegun, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case is being investigated by a joint task force including Homeland Security Investigation (HSI), the King County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), with assistance from the Washington State Patrol.
The indictment alleges that Bennett refused to allow law enforcement to enter the RV after Wilson was shot in the arm. Deputies sought a warrant from a King County Judge, which led to the discovery of the shocking stash.
The charges contained in the indictment are only allegations, and the couple is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Braiden F. Wilson and Chandler B. Bennett are set to be arraigned on the grand jury indictment next week. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Casey Conzatti and Brian Wynne.
