Nathan Hotchkiss Sentenced to 30 Years for Live Streaming Child Abuse

A 36-year-old man from Lewis County, New York, has been sentenced to spend the next 30 years behind bars for his role in live streaming the sexual abuse of two young children. Nathan Hotchkiss, of Lewis County, was handed down the sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

According to court documents, Hotchkiss admitted to livestreaming or distributing depictions of the sexual abuse of two children under the age of five for cash between October 2021 and August 2022. When he was arrested in August 2022, authorities found a collection of child pornography on his electronic devices, which he had obtained through the internet or social media message exchanges.

Hotchkiss was also ordered to pay a total of $18,000 in restitution to his victims and to forfeit the electronic devices he used to commit the offenses. Upon his release from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

The investigation into Hotchkiss’s crimes was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) with the assistance of the New York State Police and the Lewis County District Attorney’s Office as part of Project Safe Childhood. Assistant United States Attorney Michael D. Gadarian prosecuted the case.

Project Safe Childhood is a Department of Justice initiative that was launched in May 2006 to marshal federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Hotchkiss’s sentence is a harsh reminder of the devastating consequences of child exploitation and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The sentence is also a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who work tirelessly to bring these cases to justice.

In addition to his prison sentence, Hotchkiss’s conviction highlights the growing concern of child exploitation and the need for continued vigilance in protecting our children from these heinous crimes. As we continue to work towards a safer and more just society, it is essential that we remain committed to supporting the brave men and women who work to bring perpetrators to justice.
