OCALA, FL – Alfred Denmark Jr., a 49-year-old resident of Reddick, Florida, will spend the next two decades in federal prison after being sentenced for a massive drug operation that flooded the streets with deadly fentanyl and cocaine. U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber handed down the 20-year sentence on charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl and 500 grams of cocaine, distribution of more than 500 grams of cocaine, and possession of firearms as a convicted felon.
The case, built on a relentless investigation, revealed Denmark wasn’t just moving product; he was dealing in death. Court documents detail how Denmark distributed a kilogram of cocaine to one Tasha Ervin on September 7, 2023. Pasco Sheriff’s deputies quickly intercepted Ervin, seizing the drugs immediately after she left Denmark’s residence. Ervin, who later pleaded guilty to her involvement, received a sentence of one year and one day.
But the cocaine was just the tip of the iceberg. On November 12, 2024, law enforcement agents raided Denmark’s home, uncovering a staggering cache of narcotics: over 12 kilograms of fentanyl, 3 kilograms of cocaine, a Highpoint rifle, a Highpoint 45mm pistol, and a staggering $186,220 in cash. This wasn’t a small-time operation; this was a professional criminal raking in profits from the misery of others.
The court didn’t just slap Denmark with a prison sentence. They ordered the forfeiture of all the ill-gotten gains – the $186,220 in cash, the Highpoint rifle, the pistol, and all associated ammunition. This seizure sends a clear message: profiting from poison will not be tolerated, and the tools used to facilitate the trade will be taken.
Denmark pleaded guilty on April 22, 2025, likely hoping for a lighter sentence. But Judge Barber wasn’t buying it. The sheer volume of fentanyl involved – enough to kill countless people – demanded a serious penalty. This case underscores the relentless flow of fentanyl into our communities and the devastating consequences it brings.
The investigation was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST), and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
