PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Terrance Josiah Fasold, 31, is facing a lifetime behind bars after admitting today to a trifecta of federal crimes: possession with intent to distribute over 40 grams of fentanyl, using a firearm during a drug trafficking offense, and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The plea, entered in federal court, marks a significant win for authorities battling the opioid crisis and violent crime in Northwest Florida.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin didn’t mince words, stating, “I deeply appreciate the hard work by our state and federal law enforcement partners to get this violent drug trafficker off our streets. My office remains fully committed to fulfilling the promise made by President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to Take Back America by targeting drug traffickers like this defendant with the full force of the law.” This prosecution, he emphasized, is “another win in our fight to keep our communities safe.”
The case unfolded when law enforcement began investigating Fasold regarding a stolen firearm. The trail led them to the Red Roof Inn in Pensacola, where Fasold attempted to flee, ditching a bag stuffed with more than 40 grams of the deadly synthetic opioid, fentanyl. A subsequent search of his hotel room revealed even more fentanyl, alongside cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and a cache of loaded firearms. This wasn’t Fasold’s first rodeo with the law; records show multiple prior felony convictions related to drug offenses.
Fasold’s guilty plea carries a hefty potential sentence: up to life imprisonment, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. He’s looking at a very long stretch for flooding the streets with fentanyl and choosing to arm himself while doing it. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), demonstrating the power of joint task forces in tackling complex criminal enterprises.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton. Fasold is scheduled to appear before United States District Judge T. Kent Wetherell, II, on November 19, 2025, at 3:00pm at the United States Courthouse in Pensacola, where he will learn his fate. This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative designed to dismantle cartels, eliminate transnational criminal organizations, and aggressively address violent crime.
Operation Take Back America streamlines resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), highlighting a full-court press against criminals like Fasold. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida, one of 94 nationwide, remains dedicated to pursuing justice under the direction of the Attorney General.
