Jesus [Last Name], Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2024

Law enforcement’s relentless pursuit of drug kingpins culminated in a massive bust this week as six alleged members of a fentanyl ring were taken down in the Bronx. United States Attorney Jay Clayton, DEA Special Agent in Charge Frank A. Tarentino, and NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch jointly announced the unsealing of charges against JESUS JAVIER BRITO RIVERA, JOSE ALEXIS DE LA CRUZ MORA, JOSE ANTONIO DE LA CRUZ MORA, DANY RIVERA SANCHEZ, JOAN ALBERTO TORIBIO TAVAREZ, and FREDDYS RIVERA QUEZADA. All six were arrested on September 9th for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

The DEA’s New York Field Division and the NYPD uncovered a fentanyl mill in a Bronx apartment, where the suspects were processing over eight kilograms of the deadly drug. The Complaint reveals a year-long conspiracy to sell millions of dollars’ worth of fentanyl. Each defendant was present without legal status, with one having been previously deported and convicted of another drug offense.

“These defendants were caught in the act of preparing to distribute enough fentanyl to potentially amount to four million deadly doses,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “New Yorkers want these mills destroyed and their operators off the streets.”

DEA Special Agent in Charge Frank A. Tarentino emphasized the operation’s significance, stating, “This eliminated their distribution network and their ability to flood our streets with poison.” NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch added, “We know how dangerous even a trace amount of fentanyl is, but this staggering amount would have put countless New Yorkers at great risk.”

Inside the Bronx apartment, officers found four working stations for mixing and packaging fentanyl powder, thousands of packaged glassines, scales, packaging materials, and other drug paraphernalia. The suspects face serious charges as they await trial.
