⏱ 2 min read

Mark Anthony Jimenez, a 24-year-old Del Rio man, was involved in a conspiracy to traffic firearms, obtaining a pistol with a machine gun conversion device and purchasing 9mm ammunition. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discovered videos on Facebook showing Jimenez, a juvenile, and codefendant Alleena Nikole Soto firing the pistol in fully automatic mode. The incident occurred in Del Rio, Texas, and the arrests were made on February 8, 2024.

The investigation, which included the ATF, DEA, U.S. Border Patrol, and other agencies, led to the recovery of multiple 9mm shell casings consistent with the ammunition Jimenez purchased. Jimenez and Soto pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to traffic firearms, with Soto receiving a 44-month prison sentence in November 2025.

Jimenez’s sentence of 105 months in federal prison is a significant outcome in the case, which is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime and transnational criminal organizations.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Ellis-Dotson and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Allyson Breach, with support from various law enforcement agencies. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to address firearms trafficking and related crimes in the United States.
