Andrew Drechsel, Child Pornography and Enticement, Florida 2023

FLAMINGO, Fla. – Andrew Drechsel, a 35-year-old resident of Saint Cloud, Florida, has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for receiving child pornography and enticing a minor across state lines to engage in sexual activity, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.

Drechsel pleaded guilty on June 1, 2023, before Chief U.S. District Judge Renée M. Bumb to charges of receiving child pornography and knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing, and coercing a minor to travel interstate for illicit sexual conduct. The sentence was imposed in Camden federal court today.

Prosecutors revealed that Drechsel, from 2014 to November 8, 2019, lived in Hamden, Connecticut, where he met his victim, who resided in New Jersey. On the fateful day of November 8, 2019, law enforcement agents uncovered images of child sexual abuse on one of Drechsel’s phones, including explicit photos and videos of the victim at ages 14 and 15. Drechsel confessed to originally encountering the victim through his parkour activities as an ‘American Ninja Warrior.’ He admitted that he had been in contact with the victim via text messages, discussing plans for sexual encounters. Encouraged by Drechsel, the victim crossed state lines in July 2015 to meet him.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Bumb sentenced Drechsel to 15 years of supervised release and ordered him to pay $100,000 in restitution to his victim. The investigation was credited to special agents of the FBI South Jersey Resident Agency, led by Special Agent in Charge Wayne A. Jacobs, along with multiple law enforcement agencies including the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, Cherry Hill Police Department, and others.

The case is being represented for the government by Sara A. Aliabadi, Deputy Attorney in Charge of the Camden branch office, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisa Shver of the Camden branch office.
