Florida Felon Miller Sentenced to 20 Years for Multi-Robbery Spree

A Miami multi-convicted felon has been sentenced to 240 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release for committing multiple robberies while on supervised release for a separate case.

On Sept. 29, 2023, 54-year-old Keith Bernard Miller of Miami attempted to rob two credit unions in Miramar, but the attempts were unsuccessful. However, Miller was able to successfully rob a credit union in Boca Raton, making off with over $1,600. Later that day, Miller drove to a bank in Davie and presented a demand note to the teller, who relinquished over $1,300 to him in fear for her life.

Law enforcement officers located Miller’s getaway vehicle and arrested him on Oct. 10, 2023. A search of the vehicle revealed draft demand notes and clothing worn during the robberies.

Miller has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple robberies, aggravated stalking with a firearm, burglary with assault and battery, and felony eluding, among other offenses. In 2020, he was sentenced to 65 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to three counts of credit union robbery.

The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman, following a three-day federal jury trial in which Miller was found guilty of two attempted credit union robberies, one credit union robbery, and one bank robbery.

U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida and Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI, Miami Field Office, announced the sentence. The FBI Miami investigated the case with assistance from the Miramar Police Department, Boca Police Department, and Miami-Dade Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ajay J. Alexander and M. Catherine Koontz prosecuted the case.

The case number is 23-cr-60199 and can be found on the website of the District Court for the Southern District of Florida at www.flsd.uscourts.gov or at http://pacer.flsd.uscourts.gov.
