Floyd Bullman Pleads Guilty to Escape Charge in South Dakota
A Rapid City man has pleaded guilty to a charge of Escape, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota.
Floyd Bullman, 40, appeared before Chief U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on March 8, 2013, and entered a guilty plea to the charge. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.
The investigation into Bullman’s escape was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. He failed to return to Community Alternatives of the Black Hills, where he was serving part of a federal sentence, on November 5, 2012.
Bullman’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman. A presentence investigation has been ordered, and a sentencing date has been set for July 8, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
The guilty plea and subsequent sentencing come as a result of the U.S. Marshals Service’s investigation into Bullman’s escape. The agency was able to track down and apprehend Bullman, bringing an end to the manhunt.
