Four Former Prison Guards Charged in Iowa

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – In a shocking turn of events, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Corrections have announced charges against four former Anamosa State Penitentiary correctional officers and one other individual for their alleged involvement in inmate assault and conspiracy.

The four former correctional officers, whose names were not immediately released, are facing federal charges of inmate assault and conspiracy. The charges stem from an investigation into allegations of abuse and mistreatment of inmates at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.

According to sources, the investigation was conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the North Liberty Police Department. The charges were brought by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

U.S. Attorney Kevin Techau and IDOC Director Jerry Bartruff will be present at a press conference on October 6th to discuss the charges and provide further details.
