Four hard-core criminals from Fort Worth faced the federal justice system Friday, as U.S. District Judge John McBryde sentenced Tony Kalumba Tshiansi, 22; Justin Corie Murry, 20; Tremain Keyon Smith, 22; and Nykesciah Danielle Williams, 25, for their roles in a brazen bank heist that occurred on November 3, 2016.
Tshiansi was handed down the harshest sentence of 180 months behind bars, while Murry received 70 months. Smith and Williams were both sentenced to 37-month prison terms. The gang’s modus operandi involved Williams driving them to the Woodhaven National Bank on North Beach Street, where Tshiansi, with inside knowledge, directed the parking strategy.
According to court documents, Murray presented a bank robbery note to a teller while the others waited. However, their getaway was thwarted when a dye pack contained in the stolen money exploded, leaving most of it unusable. The group’s attempts to profit from the crime were thus significantly undermined.
Investigating the case were the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Fort Worth Police Department. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Dan Cole was responsible for prosecuting the defendants.
The sentencing of these four bank robbers serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who choose to engage in violent criminal activities, especially those that target financial institutions. The court’s decisions to impose significant prison terms reflects the severity of their crimes and the community’s demand for justice.
As Fort Worth continues to grapple with crime, this sentence sends a clear message: there are real consequences for bank robberies, and law enforcement will not tolerate such acts of violence against innocent citizens.
