GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE — The gritty Fox Valley region of Northeastern Wisconsin has been hit with a major federal drug trafficking case. United States Attorney Gregory J. Haanstad announced that a nine-count indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on February 28, 2017, naming eight individuals.
The defendants, Brady Pomeroy (38), Omar Sanchez (24), Curtis Whitaker (24), Zoey Scott (20), Zachary Hietpas (31), Teng Her (32), David Ly (31), and Zachary Kryzaniak (23), are accused of conspiring to distribute over 1500 grams of methamphetamine, with Pomeroy also facing firearms charges.
Count One of the indictment charges all eight with Conspiracy to Distribute Greater Than 50 Grams of Methamphetamine. This charge carries a minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in prison, along with fines reaching $10 million and supervised release ranging from 5 years to a lifetime. Additional drug charges were also levied against some defendants.
The investigation spanned multiple agencies, including the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group, Oshkosh Police Department, and United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Search warrants at residences in Appleton and Fox Crossing, as well as a business in Fox Crossing, led to the arrest of the suspects.
An indictment is not evidence of guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier.
