A sentence following a finding of guilty is imposed by the judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The Federal Sentencing Guidelines require the judge to consider several factors when determining the sentence, including the nature, circumstances, and seriousness of the offense, the history and characteristics of the defendant, and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public, and provide for the defendant’s educational, vocational, and medical needs.

McBride’s case is a stark reminder of the serious consequences of committing crimes such as bank robbery. The public can take comfort in knowing that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice and keep our communities safe.
