Crime Spree Ends in 10-Year Sentence for St. Louis Man

U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp handed down a 10-year prison sentence to Francisco J. Ocana-Talamantes, a 48-year-old undocumented immigrant living in St. Charles County, Missouri, for possessing child sexual abuse material.

Ocana-Talamantes was arrested on March 8, 2024, for abusing a child, leading to a subsequent court-approved search of his phone uncovering 338 images and videos containing child sexual abuse material.

The FBI, the St. Charles Police Department and the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson prosecuting the case.

Ocana-Talamantes pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis in December to one count of possession of child pornography.

Following his release from prison, Ocana-Talamantes will be deported, as he is in the United States illegally.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the government.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
