Frank Richard Beyer, 75, Pleads Guilty to Possessing Child Pornography
A 75-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, including images of boys under the age of 12 engaged in sex acts and exposing their genitals.
Frank Richard Beyer, also known as ‘Rick Beyer,’ entered his guilty plea before a federal judge in Fort Lauderdale. He faces up to 20 years in prison and sentencing is scheduled for May 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. before United States District Judge Rodolfo Ruiz.
According to court records, law enforcement received multiple cyber tips that an online user had uploaded child pornography to internet platforms. The tips included an email address that led law enforcement officers to Beyer. On November 20, 2019, officers executed a search warrant at Beyer’s home and found external digital storage devices containing multiple images and videos of children engaging in explicit sexual conduct with other children or adults.
U.S. Attorney Ariana Fajardo Orshan commended the investigative efforts of the FBI, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ajay Alexander is prosecuting this case.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet and to identify and rescue victims.
