A harrowing close call shook the small town of Kasota, Minnesota, last Wednesday morning, September 21, 1923. Freight train No. 18, operated by the Omaha railroad, came to a sudden stop in front of the local depot. Miraculously, no one was injured in the incident, which could have had disastrous consequences if it had occurred on the bridge at Ottawa.
