AUGUSTA, GA: A U.S. Army major assigned to the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Gordon has been convicted on federal charges of producing child pornography.
Jason Michael Musgrove, 40, from Grovetown, Georgia, admitted in U.S. District Court to producing child porn, according to Bobby L. Christine, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The crime could see Musgrove sentenced to up to 30 years in prison, substantial fines, and restitution to victims, followed by a period of supervised release.
Musgrove was an Integrated Threat Operations Officer with Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information clearance at Fort Gordon at the time of his December 2019 arrest. He is alleged to have used a hidden camera in a bathroom of his residence to film juvenile victims.
U.S. Attorney Christine expressed gratitude to the FBI for their work in identifying and removing this threat to children, emphasizing that such predators will not be allowed to hide from justice in the Southern District.
Special Agent in Charge Chris Hacker of the FBI Atlanta field office highlighted the severity of producing child pornography, especially when committed by a member of the armed forces sworn to protect the nation. The FBI remains committed to protecting children and apprehending such predators.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, with prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney and Project Safe Childhood Coordinator Tara M. Lyons.
