BODY:
A Bronx man’s brutal act of violence in Bangladesh has finally caught up with him. Ganet Rozario, 54, a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Big Apple, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the June 2021 murder of his uncle, Michael Rozario.
According to court documents, the dispute between the two men had been brewing for years over a family home in Munshiganji, Bangladesh. The tension finally boiled over on June 11, 2021, when Ganet overheard his uncle insulting him from inside the house. In a fit of rage, Ganet retrieved a shotgun and fired a single shot through an opaque window shutter, striking his uncle in the stomach and abdomen area, killing him.
Ganet’s actions were not only a heinous crime but also a betrayal of the trust and loyalty expected within a family. The fact that he was able to return to the United States in July 2023 and live a relatively normal life for two years before being indicted in April 2024 only adds to the outrage.
Assistant Attorney General brought the case to justice, ensuring that Ganet Rozario would face the consequences of his actions. The 15-year prison sentence is a fitting punishment for the cold-blooded murder of a family member. As the Rozario family begins to heal from this tragedy, they can take comfort in knowing that justice has been served.
