A local felon has been sentenced to serve 57 months in prison for a gun-related charge.
The case stems from a traffic stop on April 30, 2020, in Jamestown, New York, where Walter S. Duprey, 38, was found in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, Duprey, also known as Spoons or Waldo, is a convicted felon with previous convictions in Chautauqua County in 2005, 2006, and 2012.
Police officers conducted a search of Duprey and found a shotgun shell in his pocket. Further investigation led to the recovery of a loaded shotgun in the vehicle.
The case was investigated by the Jamestown Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly handled the case, which resulted in a conviction for Duprey being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The sentencing was carried out by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
