Garland Sex Predator Gets 144-Month Sentence for Child Porn

Jeffrey David Mitchell, a 54-year-old resident of Garland, Texas, has been handed a 144-month federal prison sentence for his sickening crimes against children. Mitchell was caught with a trove of child pornography, with some files depicting the most despicable acts of sadism and violence.

The grim tale began in April 2015 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) issued a CyberTip about Mitchell’s online activities. An immediate search warrant led to Mitchell’s home, where he was found with his parents during the police raid.

Mitchell confessed that he not only possessed child pornography but also traded and distributed it via multiple email accounts. His desktop computer, located in his bedroom, contained a chilling cache of approximately 750 images and 100 videos, some involving infants and toddlers.

U.S. Attorney John Parker announced the sentence, noting that Mitchell has been in federal custody since his May 2015 arrest. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. Assistant U.S. Attorney Camille Sparks handled the prosecution.

The FBI, Collin County Sheriff’s Office, and Garland Police Department collaborated on this investigation. Mitchell will now pay for his monstrous actions, serving a decade behind bars followed by 10 years of supervised release.
