Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Minor Lands Oklahoma Man in Prison for 30 Years
In a shocking case of child abuse, Garret James Walkos, a 26-year-old man from Red Oak, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 360 months in prison for aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country.
The crime, which took place in Latimer County, within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation, involved a minor who had not yet reached the age of 12 years. Investigators revealed that Walkos knowingly engaged in a sexual act with the child between June 2023 and March 2024.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Criminal Investigations, which led the investigation, Walkos pleaded guilty to the charge on May 29, 2025. The Honorable John C. Coughenour, a U.S. District Judge sitting by assignment, presided over the hearing.
The sentence of 360 months in prison for Garret James Walkos is a significant blow to the community, highlighting the severity of the crime and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
