A chilling case of child exploitation has surfaced in Ohio, as authorities reveal that a New York man has been charged with traveling to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor.
Gary C. Green, Jr., 43, of Johnstown, New York, is accused of knowingly traveling in interstate commerce from New York to Ohio with the intention of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl.
The alleged crime took place between August 3 and August 4, 2013, according to the charges filed by Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
The charges against Gary C. Green, Jr. include travel to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor. If convicted, the sentence will be determined by the court after consideration of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which depend on a number of factors unique to each case.
The sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carol M. Skutnik, with the case investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Youngstown Office.
