Crack Cocaine Trafficking Lands Gary Man Behind Bars

Freddie Griffin, 33, of Gary, Indiana, is facing the consequences of his crime after a guilty plea to intent to distribute crack cocaine.

U.S. District Court Judge Philip P. Simon handed down the sentence of 41 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.

According to documents, in December 2016, Griffin possessed with intent to distribute an amount of cocaine base, commonly referred to as crack. Law enforcement made three controlled buys from Griffin in November 2016, leading to a traffic stop early in December.

During the traffic stop, officers recovered crack cocaine from the vehicle. Griffin then told officers about guns, crack, and money inside his home in Gary, Indiana. Law enforcement executed a search warrant and located additional crack, five firearms, various ammunition, $2,880, and drug paraphernalia from the home.

This case is the result of the investigative efforts of the FBI, handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Chang.
