Council Bluffs Trio Sentenced for Methamphetamine Ring
Council Bluffs, IA – In a shocking turn of events, three Council Bluffs residents have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a methamphetamine conspiracy. According to public court documents, George Ormond Rolle Jr., 51, Joseph Robert Winger, 34, and Linda Clover Winger, 41, conspired with each other to distribute methamphetamine in the Council Bluffs metro area in 2023.
The investigation, led by the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force, revealed that the trio was working together to pool their money to buy methamphetamine for distribution in the Council Bluffs area. In July 2023, law enforcement officers received information on a package, containing methamphetamine, that was addressed to a residence in Council Bluffs. The officers seized the package and conducted a controlled delivery of the seized package, ultimately leading to the trio’s downfall.
Rolle and Linda Winger attempted to retrieve the package from the residence and were subsequently taken into custody. Their vehicle was searched and had approximately 76 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, drug ledgers, and more than $4700. Phone messages confirmed the group’s involvement in the methamphetamine conspiracy.
George Ormond Rolle Jr. was sentenced on August 28, 2024, to 210 months in federal prison. Joseph Robert Winger was sentenced on February 23, 2024, to 140 months in federal prison. Linda Clover Winger was sentenced on April 25, 2024, to 78 months in federal prison. After completing their term of imprisonment, each individual will be required to serve a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement, praising the efforts of the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force for their tireless work in bringing the trio to justice. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the consequences of involvement in such illicit activities.
The community is left to wonder how such a large-scale operation was able to take place in their midst. As the trio begins their sentences, the people of Council Bluffs can rest easier knowing that justice has been served.
