A major blow to the methamphetamine trade in Sioux City, Iowa, was dealt June 12, 2024, when 37-year-old Dominique Burow plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in federal court.
As per the plea deal, evidence showed that Burow and her associates distributed a minimum of 5 kilograms of meth in the Sioux City area between January 2022 and February 2023. Her crimes didn’t go unnoticed, as she was caught twice in 2022 for distributing or aiding in the distribution of methamphetamine to individuals cooperating with law enforcement.
Burow’s case also revealed that she obtained a minimum of 9 pounds of meth from multiple sources to distribute in Sioux City, and that she wired a significant amount of money – drug proceeds – to sources in Mexico and California.
Things took a turn for the worse when Burow was caught with methamphetamine while on pre-trial release for her original charges. Her actions now put her in the crosshairs of the law, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment hanging over her head.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde, with the Tri-State Drug Task Force, consisting of law enforcement personnel from several agencies, leading the investigation. These agencies include the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, and more.
