Buffalo, NY – A 33-year-old man from West Seneca has pleaded guilty to distributing oxycodone, a powerful opioid painkiller, in a commercial parking lot in Orchard Park. Fred Suchan, 33, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel, Suchan sold or attempted to sell OxyContin and Opana tablets to an undercover police officer on three dates in September and October 2010. The transactions took place in a commercial parking lot on Abbott Road in Orchard Park.
On the last occasion, officers seized a 9 mm rifle, a loaded 9 mm magazine, and additional 9 mm ammunition from Suchan’s vehicle. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Orchard Park Police Department.
The plea is the result of a thorough investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of James J. Hunt, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division, and the Orchard Park Police Department, under the direction of Chief Mark Pacholec.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 10, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel.
U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced the guilty plea, stating that the distribution of oxycodone is a serious offense that can have devastating consequences. He emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.
