Convicted Heroin Dealer Sentenced to 24 Months

SPokane, Washington – In a bold move to combat the opioid crisis, the Eastern District of Washington has secured a conviction against a notorious heroin dealer.

Jose Manuel R. Andrade, a 43-year-old resident of Parker, Washington, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, followed by a 2-year term of court supervision, for distributing heroin.

According to court documents, in December 2012, DEA agents observed Andrade distributing 133 grams of heroin to another individual in the parking lot of a truck stop off I-90 near Medical Lake, Washington.

Andrade was subsequently indicted by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Washington and an arrest warrant was issued. He was eventually apprehended on March 25, 2019, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry when he sought admission to the United States from Tijuana, Mexico.

U.S. Attorney William D. Hyslop praised the efforts of the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers for their commitment to this successful prosecution. ‘The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington is committed to prosecuting aggressively and seeking just punishment for individuals who distribute drugs in our communities,’ he said.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by George J.C. Jacobs, III, an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.

The conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against the opioid epidemic in our nation.
