Brandon M. Kelley, Child Starvation Murder, Georgia 2025

Fort Stewart Army Base, Liberty County, GA: A federal grand jury in the Southern District of Georgia has leveled an unimaginable charge against Brandon M. Kelley, 29, and Stacey D. Kelley, 26, for the murder of their child, Vyolet Kelley. The couple is accused of starving the young girl to death by depriving her of adequate nourishment and medical care.

On August 8, 2025, a federal court unsealed an indictment charging the Kelleys with Felony Murder and two counts of Second Degree Murder, stemming from the tragic death that occurred while Vyolet was living at Fort Stewart Military Reservation. Brandon Kelley served as an enlisted soldier during the time outlined in the charges.

Acting United States Attorney Tara M. Lyons expressed the gravity of the case, stating, ‘The allegations in this case are heartbreaking on many levels. Our office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to pursue justice.’

The investigation was led by the United States Army Criminal Investigative Division, and Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy P. Dean and E. Greg Gilluly, Jr., will handle the prosecution. The Kelleys face potential penalties up to life in prison, with no parole available in the federal system.

Despite the serious charges against them, the Kelleys are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. For any inquiries regarding this case, the public is advised to contact the U.S. Attorney’s Office at (912) 652-4422.
