Philadelphia Man Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine and Cocaine Trafficking Charges
A Philadelphia man has pleaded guilty to federal narcotics and firearms charges, according to a guilty plea entered in federal court.
Gerald Terry, 51, pleaded guilty to charges related to the distribution and possession of methamphetamine and cocaine. The charges stem from a conspiracy involving more than 500 grams of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to court documents, Terry and a co-conspirator conspired to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute the controlled substances between March 30, 2018, and April 4, 2018. On April 4, 2018, they were found in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
The investigation into the conspiracy was led by the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police SHIELD Unit, and the Somerset Turnpike Barracks. Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard, Jr. will be prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Judge Kim R. Gibson has scheduled sentencing for August 13, 2020. The maximum sentence for the charges is life in prison, a fine of $15,250,000, or both. The actual sentence will be determined by the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
