Madison, WI – A Chicago man will spend the next 20 years behind bars for producing child pornography, a U.S. Attorney announced today. Gerardo Junior Torres, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge on November 5, 2020.

The lengthy sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley, who expressed his concern that Torres did not grasp the severity of his actions and the pain he caused the victims. According to court documents, Torres manipulated two young children, including a 15-year-old and a 7-year-old, and produced numerous images and videos of the abuse.

The investigation into Torres’ crimes began on April 4, 2020, when a citizen in Taylor County, Wisconsin, reported that a family member had been sexually assaulted by Torres. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant and seized electronic devices belonging to the defendant, which contained the disturbing images and videos.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Ladysmith Police Department, and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation into Torres’ crimes. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman handled the prosecution of the case.
